Population
Dated May 2008 the population of Georgi Damianovo Municipality is 2,961 people. The common tendency of decreasing population is valid also for the municipality. Average annual rate of population decrease during the last three years is about 5%, which is higher than the average for the country. In all villages there is a decrease of population. In two villages, Pomejdin and Elovitsa, the decrease is more significant.
Population Rates:
The number of population of working and non-working age decreases at different rates. The rate of decrease is highest among working and non-working age.
The drastic decrease in the number of births and the shorter life span of the population reflects to the lifestyle of people and relationships between generations.
In reference to education, the tendency is for improved education. This fact is due to the decrease of aging population and not specific classification of educational criteria.
The dynamics in the number of population reflects the age characteristics. The population is aging and the number of children under 15 is decreasing. The number of population up to the age of seven is 76 people which is 2.6% of total population. This fact illustrates the imbalance of the aging pyramid. The number of population between 7 and 18 years is 204 people which is 6.9%. Both population groups form 9.5% of the population which is under the average for the country and shows unfavorable tendencies. The number of men between 18 and 62 years is 826 people and the number of women between 18 and 58 years is 484 people. The men over 62 years and the women over 59 years are 1,371 people or 46%.
