Georgi Damyanovo municipality stretches from peak Kopren in Western Balkan Mountains to Broad mountain /Frontbalkan/ in the north, enclosed the fecund valley of Ogosta River. The territory includes 298 sq. km. with 13 villages with commonly 2 961 people.
![]() The bigger part of territory is situated in a rugged mountain region with an average altitude of 600 metres. To the north-west the municipality borders with Chiprovtsi municipality, to the south-west - with Serbia, to the south-east - with Berkovitsa municipality, and to the west-east with Montana municipality. Comparative easy to approach and negotiable mountain is a wonderful precondition for hunting and tourism.
From the territory of the municipality keeps its beginning Dalgodelska Ogosta River, the main feeder of Ogosta River, which crosses from south-west to north-east the municipality. This region is an indescribable squeeze of mountain, front-mountain, forests, unique pure air and crystal pure spring water.
The Lopushanski Monastery “St. John the Baptist” is shining like a pearl in the valley, a kilometer from Georgi Damyanovo village. Behind the high stone walls, at the green background of the forest is silhouetted by ailing cupolas of the Temple “St. John the Baptist”, which is a miniature model of “Rilа Monastery”. The carving of the iconostasis, hemstitch and corpulent, represents bible scenes, animals and plants – the fruits of the Earth.
From “Kopren” hovel there is a view to all sides – to the south – the tops of the Kopren and Sbeg, to the west – the top “Tri chuki”, to the north and to the east – a panorama of mountain slopes.
Deep in the mountain there are ecopaths with picturesque waterfalls: Landzhin skok, Durshin skok, Vodni skok and some others.
